I was originally going to pass up the Scrappy Stash QAL, because my sewing to-do list is hundred tasks long. But as my pile of laundry got bigger and the reality of having to wash and fold clothes set in, I thought "Hmm, what's the harm in doing one block?"
One block turned into 12 and I am completely addicted. I was a little concerned about the individual blocks at first (wasn't sure if they looked OK), but once you start looking at them all together all the imperfections fade away! I spent this morning quilting them with the QAYG method (Tutorial over at Maureen Cracknell Handmade). I quilted straight lines 1/4" apart in white thread.
I am making 36 more, 6 of each remaining colors: red, yellow, orange, pink, grey and purple. Those are going to be a harder to do, since I don't have a ton of scraps in those colors. The only thing I don't like about these blocks is cleaning up all the scrap vomit after the fact. :D You've all seen how messy my sewing room gets!
Besides the scrappy log cabins, I have been working on my project for the Tula Pink Sew Along, the Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery Block of the Month & absolutely nothing that actually needs to get done. But I'm having fun!

Lastly, I'd like to thank :
Diane at from blank pages - I won a $20 gift certificate to Pink Chalk Fabrics at the Share Your 80's Photo Party. I ended up being responsible and buying $20 worth of white fabric. My husband was proud of me. I didn't tell him I added a charm pack to my order. :)
Jennifer at Ellison Lane Quilts - I won one of the scrap packs from Fabricworm, so excited!
I love lucky streaks!
Linking up with The Virtual Sewing Room at amylouhou, since #notgoingtosewingsummit! :( ;)

I'm working on the same type of blocks! The first one or two I wasn't entirely sure...but now that I have 12 done...I'm in LOVE! Your blocks look FANTASTIC!
I love those fussy cut centers in your log cabins -- I'm trying to do some of that too. These are about the most addictive blocks I've ever made...
Your quilt is going to be gorgeous! I know what you mean about the scrap vomit - it's everywhere!!
Neat log cabins, definitely much more satisfying than ironing and folding laundry :)
I am doing the EPp and the SS its both addicting..
Beautiful log cabins Taryn and I love, love, love the other blocks you made! Lucky you winning 2 in a row!:) I read Maureen's post too, how's her qayg technique working out for you?
P.s. did you know you're a no-reply blogger?
love those log cabins, although if you leave the laundry until you have made another 36, there will be quite a pile there ;-)

Love your log cabins! Yay on the lucky streak!
Loving the log cabins. Can't wait to see the full rainbow. Hadn't heard about that QAL and am now desperately trying to stop myself from joining in. Ha! :)
