After much starting and (a lot of) stopping, I finished my Crimson Cross quilt top! I got the pattern from
Little Bits Quilting Bee by Kathreen Ricketson. I used 2 layer cakes and a honey bun from Fig Tree Quilts Butterscotch & Roses collection. I picked the pattern because it seemed easy enough for me to start out on and it gave me a good opportunity to practice 1/4" seams. I probably should have considered the size, because 72 blocks of straight lines got a little monotonous after a while. It didn't look like so much from the stack above, but it took me all day to piece it! A lot of that was because I had issues keeping my rows matched up, but once I switched to smaller pins I had less trouble. Any advice on that topic would be appreciated! This project is now going to enter quilting limbo, while I decide what to do with it!
I've been so busy finishing the blocks and top for the above quilt, so my To-Do list looks almost the same as last week!
- Snuggly Layer Cake Quilt - I want to finish quilting & binding this by Friday.
- Robot Quilt - This is for Valentine's Day, so high priority! I got the blue jelly rolls to speed up the process, but I still need to go the store and get the colors for the robot.
- Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL Fireflies block.
- Put my January HST block back together.
I really need to start finishing projects before I start a new ones!

Your quilt top looks great, well done. I am sure there is a better term than "quilting limbo", but it certainly describes where two of my quilt tops have been for some time! Work in progress at least makes it sound like something will happen to them sometime soon :)

I don't pin either. I just bump one seam up against the other. As in press them to one side and they just snug up perfectly wherever two seams meet up.

Hi Taryn! Well, of course I had to follow you, since I too have made the journey from Pantone and print to patterns and pincushions. : ) I happen to think graphic designers make awesome quilters! LOL.
The Crimson Cross quilt looks great! I can't tell you had any trouble matching up rows. When lining up square blocks like that, make sure to press your seams in opposite directions. Then when you're pinning the blocks together they kind of lock together and it's much easier to line them up.

I'm excited to see the robot quilt. And I have yet to meet a sewist who finishes everything before starting a new project :-) An area of growth for us all (though it may take some of the fun out of it!) :-)
